Here it is - the long awaited blog all about our little Sprite. First things first - why do we call our baby Sprite? Once I found out I was pregnant I signed up for the weekly e-mail from babycenter.com telling me how the baby was developing. In each e-mail they compare the size of the baby to a piece of produce. So one week the baby was the size of a lime and then a lemon and I started saying that we were going to have a lemon-lime baby. (and really- a rutabaga - it just doesn't sound as cute) That soon morphed into Sprite which became our work in progress name for the baby (by the way, Ben wanted to call the baby WIP, isn't Sprite way cuter?). This came in handy since we decided to frustrate and annoy our friends and family by not telling them the name of the baby until she arrived. Since a sprite is also another name for an elf or pixie it just seemed to fit our little girl. And she lived up to her name by weighing just 5.7 lbs when she was born.
Since the Care and Feeding of Sprites was already taken - The Diary of a Sprite seemed like the next best name for this blog. I will try and update it often with photos of Claire (who from now on will be referred to on this blog as Sprite) and stories of her adventures. I will also be posting about the various art and craft projects I have going (hey - I am the one doing the writing after all) and there might even be the occasional post from Ben.
