Vacation - one year after Buenos Aires

It is hard to believe that this was us one year ago...
and this is us now...
(This is the only photo I have of the three of us from the trip. It was taken by a nice, but rather strange jogging man, who never stopped jogging in place, even while he was taking the photo. By the way, it was his idea, not ours, and I think the strange looks on our faces have to do with the fact that we weren't sure if at any second he was going to take off with our camera.)

It is time for the annual ASHRAE conference and this year it was in St. Pete. Our trip was very different this year. Since we tried to keep Sprite on her napping schedule I found myself with many hours to kill in our hotel room. That meant time for me to nap too, or read books, or magazines. And even though Sprite stayed up past her bedtime I still wound up going to sleep very early. It was great.
We stayed at a fun hotel that had lots of interesting activities, paddle boats, waterslides, and pools. We took advantage of the location right on the beach to take Sprite down to the gulf each day. The first few days she cried every time we put her feet on the sand.

We took her swimming in the ocean for the very first time and she loved it. Especially when she realized that she could splash around.

We also took a trip to the Tampa zoo. I kept hearing that it was really great for kids and our membership to the Palm Beach Zoo got us 50% of our admission. It was really too hot to be outside so we spent most of our time in the manatee and turtle observation area. (We tried to cool her off by keeping her head wet)

It is the only place Sprite can get close enough to really see the animals. I do think she was a bit freaked out by this ugly turtle though.

And after about an hour or two she looked like this...asleep and getting a nice blast of cool AC before going into her carseat.

I have a lot more stories and photos from the trip, but I will save them for another post this weekend.
